My dear friends, come with me on an adventure beyond time - in another world, in Bozhentsi!
Tucked deep in the depths of the Central Balkan Mountains, this jewel will enchant and enchant you with its unadulterated naturalness and bright charm.
Towards the end of the Second Bulgarian State in 1393, when the Kingdom of Tarnovo fell, Bulgarians fled the capital in search of shelter and security.
They are settling in the deeper and more inaccessible parts of the Balkans.
They say that among them is the young boyar Bozhana, who chooses as her hiding place the area where we find Bozhentsi today. It is on her that it takes its name.
The main livelihood of the people of Bozhentsi has always been trade.
Over time, the village grew and during the Revival era became an important crossroads. The main goods of traders are leather, wool, wax, honey.
In the immediate vicinity of the village there is a preserved Roman road, which continues in an eco-trail in the direction of Gabrovo, and from the eastern end of the village begins a forest eco-trail to Tryavna.
Bozhentsi has been declared an architectural and historical reserve and for this reason it has preserved the architecture of the Revival era, as there is a ban on the construction of buildings that are not in the preserved style of the village.
Most of the houses are on two floors. The first is usually used as a shop, and the second was inhabited by farmers.
Characteristic of the divine houses are the verandas, extremely beautiful and unique in appearance roofs of wide stone slabs and corner fireplaces.
The pavement of the divine streets everywhere is only cobbled.
