My dear friends, I invite you to admire together the beautiful Rhodopes and the exceptional views around Dospat dam.

How to get here?

Dospat is a dam on the Dospat River in the Western Rhodopes.

It is located at 1200 meters above sea level and is among the largest in area and volume in Bulgaria.

The hydroelectric cascade "Dospat - Vacha" is the largest hydropower complex in Bulgaria.

At the time of its construction, Dospat dam was the second largest dam in the country.

Its commissioning took place back in 1967.

The areas flooded by the dam used to be a fertile valley where cereals were sown.

The dam is 19 kilometers long and about 3 kilometers wide, located northwest - southeast.

Along its northeastern coast passes an incredible picturesque road between the towns of Sarnitsa and Dospat, along which most of the photos in this publication were taken.

I wish you an exceptional and impressive walk!
