Whether it's time for bicycles or are we just roller or skating, whether we need a pleasant and peaceful walk, or are we looking for silence and privacy in nature, whether we want to enjoy and laugh at animals, exercise or just want fun- park-park Freedom Island offers all this and even more!
Freedom Park Island is undoubtedly the preferred place for relaxation, relaxation and walks in Pazardzhik. It is located on the island* in the bed of the Maritza River and offers entertainment for small, big and even older girls and boys.
*Freedom is an island in the Maritza River near Pazardzhik. Its length is about 1750 meters and its width is about 310 meters. Its area is about 300 acres (0.3 km²).
The island is overgrown with poplars. Until the great flood of Maritza in 1858 was a small and endless island. For half a century it has been privately owned and used for logging and grazing of livestock, after which in 1905 it was bought by the city government and turned into a park. Over the years, people have been interested in buying and turning the island into their residence, including even King Ferdinand.
As you may have noticed from the big sign at the entrance, the official opening hours of the park are from 6:00 to 00:30.
Where do I begin my story and presentation of this wonderful place? There are so many attractions here for everyone! One thing is certain - there is no boredom here!
The zoo, definitely! I will start with probably the most visited of all and the most liked attraction - the zoo on the "Svoboda" park-island in Pazardzhik.
Zoo
It is probably the most fun place, especially and especially for the little ones!
Playful monkeys, funny meerkats, cute ponies, adorable donkey, scary tigers, fearless lions, chatty ducks, decorative chickens, proud deer with huge horns, (non)serious raccoons, playful prairie dogs, fluffy lemurs with long tails - you walk around, you wink at the animals, they come running towards you and there is great hilarity!
The llama is obedient and kind, and you can even pet her gently on the back.
The muzzle of the Patagonian mara is particularly cute.
Attention! Do not throw garbage on the paths, but only in the places designated for this purpose, because the wind scatters it in the direction of the animals' cages, which is not good for them!
The monkey is always looking to do something funny, while the dozens of curious eyes of the little miscreants are staring at her.
This tooth is always begging for food.
The lioness lazily stretches out in the shade while the king takes a nap.
The tiger is an attraction in itself! Importantly, he looms large on the central podium and doesn't seem to pay much attention to us.
Just look at him crawling sleepily!
Suddenly and very unexpectedly I hear a song!
🎵 [Verse 1]
What was that?
What?
What was what?
Where?
What was that?
Shh!
What was that?
Shh!
What was that?
Where?
What?
Where?
Where?
What was that?
Shh!
Quick, before the hyenas come!
[Spoken]
Clear!
[Verse 2]
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
When it's done, you dig a bigger tunnel!
Dig, a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Quick, before the hyenas come!
DIG!
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
When it's done, you dig a bigger tunnel!
Dig, a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
You can dig and never get done!
Dig, a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
What was that?
Quick, before the hyenas come!
DIG!
[Verse 3]
Dig a tunnel is what we do!
Life's a tunnel, we'll dig it, too!
Dig a tunnel is what we sing!
Mud and clay is a meerkat's friend!
Dig a tunnel is everything!
DIG!
Always more around every bend
And when you get to your tunnel's end!
HalleIujah, let's dig again!
DIG!
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
When it's done, you dig a bigger tunnel!
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
What was that?
Quick before the hyenas come!
DIG!
[Verse 4]
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
When it's done, you dig a bigger tunnel!
What was that?
Quick before the hyenas come!
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
When it's done, you dig a bigger tunnel!
Quick before the hyenas come!
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
When it's done, you dig a bigger tunnel!
Quick before the hyenas come!
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
When it's done, you dig a bigger tunnel!
Quick before the hyenas come!
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
Dig a tunnel, dig, dig a tunnel
When it's done, you dig a bigger tunnel!
Quick before the hyenas come! 🎵
"Dig a tunnel"
"The Lion King 3"
Watch my short and funny film about the cheerful meerkats from Svoboda Park-Island.
After the hard-working song of the cheerful meerkats, I hear a second rhythmic and dancing song:
🎵 I like to move it, move it
I like to move it, move it
I like to move it, move it
Ya like to move it! 🎵
"I Like to Move It"
Reel 2 Real
"Madagascar"
These are the dancing lemurs from Madagascar! They are actually from the Svoboda Park-Island Zoo and they are also very funny!
From the zoo on Svoboda Island Park, I suggest you go to the lovely rosarium built nearby.
Oh, that's called charm!
Rosary
During the months of May and June, throughout the summer and even until mid-autumn, the rosary in Svoboda Island Park is colored with beauty, fragrance and grace!
In the middle of the ocean of roses, a symbolic island-oasis has been built with benches surrounded by rose bushes blooming in true splendor.
The place is woven of romance and love!
On hot summer evenings, a walk along this romantic pink oasis island is an incomparable pleasure, especially with your loved one hand in hand.
A pond with a fountain has been built in the middle of the pink oasis, from which life-giving freshness gushes.
The ocean of roses will surround you from all sides! You are drowning in aroma!
A very favorite book of mine is "Mio Min Mio" by the Swedish writer for children and teenagers Astrid Lindgren. I know it all by heart, and somehow I have always associated the rose garden in Svoboda Park-Island in the city of Pazardzhik with the rose garden of Mio's father, the king of the Earth at the end of the world. It's so beautiful here!
From the rosarium I rush to the dinosaurs, but not from the Jurassic Park, but from its Bulgarian counterpart in Pazardzhik.
As I get closer and closer, the roar gets louder and louder!
Dino corner
A little scary, a lot of fun, quite roaring, hidden-covered in the bushes, dinosaurs still roam the land of Svoboda Park-Island today.
The dinosaurs are masterfully crafted and skillfully recreated, and we want to keep them in that state for a long time.
We kind of fast-forward from the Jurassic to the Stone Age with Fred Flintstone's car.
Perhaps from so much roar and fear you are already tired?
Here for everyone there is a place to rest on the bench-record holder of Bulgaria!
The longest bench in Bulgaria
The construction of this giant record-breaking bench in Bulgaria with a length of more than a kilometer (1014 meters to be exact) and seating for more than two thousand people (2020 people to be exact) began in 2010.
The record-breaking bench was even a candidate for the Guinness Book of Records, but it did not win this competition.
Who likes stories?
Fairytale corner
Me! I love fairy tales! And fairy tale characters too!
The beginning of the fairy-tale corner, located on the territory of the "Freedom" island park, was laid 10 years ago - in the summer of 2014.
Since then, Jan Bibiyan, Pippi Longstocking, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, The Little Prince and the Fox and the Owl-storyteller have been a fun attraction for all children - young and old - for 10 years now, and if they tell, they tell stories.
Near the fairy tale corner is the alley of crooked mirrors, which reveal our world in a more correct way.
Alley of crooked mirrors
Here is a "me" of mine, refracted through the cheerful mirror of the alley of crooked mirrors.
Want more? Okay! Here are a few more of my "me".
It's fun, isn't it?!
Walking through the long, vast and seemingly endless alleys of the Freedom Island park, what will surely impress you are the many sculptural compositions scattered everywhere throughout the green lawns.
Quirky, strange, serious, abstract, seemingly alive - these are the sculptural compositions in the middle of the "Freedom" island park.
The largest outdoor sculpture collection
This is another "best" here.
On the territory of the "Freedom" Island Park is located one of the largest outdoor sculpture collections in Bulgaria, including over 50 sculptures (I personally have not counted them).
I'm heading to the art corner for swing lovers.
Swings with artist names
I have tried each of these swing art installations and I can safely tell you that each one of them is simply great!
Pablo Picasso, Van Gogh, and Salvador Dali are the artistic geniuses who inspired these art installations.
I can assure you that swinging here will give you all sorts of brilliant ideas! That's how these swings work.
I head to the westernmost part of the "Freedom" island park, where the monument to Aleko Konstantinov stands.
The monument at the western end of the "Freedom" island park in Pazardzhik is dedicated to the writer and public figure Aleko Konstantinov.
Monument to Aleko Konstantinov
Opened on May 23, 1937, the monument was built with voluntary donations from the Belmeken Tourist Association in Pazardzhik. The author is the architect Kostadin Mumdzhiev, and the bas-relief was made by the sculptor Mihailo Parashchuk.
The author has created something completely different and has managed to tell through his composition the entire philosophy of life of the Lucky Man, based on natural forms.
The writer's face, as well as his signature, are mounted on a pillar, which the author of "Bai Ganyo" undoubtedly was in the spiritual life of Bulgaria.
The curved wall and slope on its left side symbolize a mountain path and the idea of a healthy lifestyle, through which a connection is made with nature.
The round opening in the curved wall is again a play on the imagination. The bullet that took the writer into oblivion was round and from an ambush.
The pedestal is the connection with the peaks he had not conquered. It is no coincidence that Aleko Konstantinov was the initiator of mountain walks to Vitosha and a large part of the mountains in the country. Until then, they were mainly seen as a source of timber.
The composition is set in Pazardzhik, because Aleko Konstantinov was ridiculously murdered near the village of Radilovo.
I'm heading west.
Behind the monument to Aleko in the westernmost part of the park-island "Freedom" rises the Cross.
Are you tired yet? Not yet! Eh, okay then!
I know that little mischievous ones never tire. I share this from experience!
Numerous children's attractions
On the territory of the "Freedom" Island Park, there are countless attractions for all children that will literally leave them breathless!
As I shared in the title – there is no boredom here!
You can take a wonderful sightseeing tour of a large part of the Freedom Island Park by riding a train.
Fun at its best – walks, attractions, running, cycling, skating and rollerblading, chase, animals, dinosaurs, basketball and football...
But we need to recharge our batteries, of course!
A place to eat and drink
"Freedom" Park-Island is a place where you will find dozens of cafes, restaurants, and places to eat and drink, so that everyone who has partied to oblivion can recover properly!
Important! Freedom Island Park is a place where dogs are prohibited!
