The autumn is in full swing, but that doesn't stop the temperatures from being like in the summer.
I am in the Rhodopes again. This time I chose Bratsigovo as the starting point of today's adventure.
I am traveling on the road to the village of Ravnogor.
Only about five kilometers from the center of Bratsigovo and on the road to Ravnogor there is a turnoff to the right. It leads to the charming village of Rozovo.
I enter Rozovo - an old but tidy village, tucked away on the northern slopes of the Rhodopes.
I keep going straight.
Signs show me the way to Rozovski Vriz resort.
The road is great. There is no one.
In a few minutes I am near the micro dam. It's beautiful all around, but for now I'm continuing to the resort.
Arriving near the colorful children's playground, I leave the car in the small parking lot near the vast green meadow. You can't go wrong - there you will be greeted by Mama Bear, embracing her two teddy bears, as well as a proud eagle.
And up there, right above the meadow, is today's cherished goal - Raven's cliff.
Raven's cliff is a panoramic site located just above the Rozovski Vriz resort.
It is not one of the most famous destinations and there are no usual crowds, such as on the trail to Bekovi cliffs.
The starting point to Raven's cliff is the trail to the Atoluka site. There is a large yellow sign indicating the correct direction.
You will pass the large hotel, located on the central vast green meadow. Behind it awaits you the first sign with the inscription "To the chapel".
I enter the forest.
Here you will see two signposts hung one above the other on a tree. One points the path (right) to an old century-old tree, which I will tell you about another time, the other (left) - to Atoluka. The marking of the path itself is shown on the sign - white, blue, white.
But it's not that interesting 😉
It is interesting, and very, very funny, the way of marking the trail itself.
It all starts with 60. Yes, with 60!
The number 60 in black letters on a white plate.
From now on different trees, in a way so that it is impossible to make a mistake, just follow the numbering and count - 60, 59, 58, 57, 56, 55 ...
You got the idea, don't you!
From 60 to 1. As 1 (Number One) awaits you exactly on the cherished goal - Raven's cliff.
The displacement is not so great, but there is a beautiful beech forest around, so in the middle of autumn there are leaves everywhere, a lot of fallen leaves from the beeches. Which, along with the good displacement, makes "climbing" (and then descending) interesting and a lot of fun.
The wide green meadow of the resort, which you passed, is located at 1143 meters above sea level.
Garvanova skala is located at 1325 meters above sea level. So, the difference of about 180 meters is taken with enough rest, but the distance is not great.
You really don't know what to expect under the leaves - a root, a stone or just a fallen, withered branch.
Be careful.
With enough breaks for no more than an hour you will be up there. Again, the displacement is not great, but it will seem serious, and you will need a break because it's tiring.
There is another trail to Raven's cliff, starting from the Atoluka site, located near the village of Ravnogor, but it is longer.
Today's trail is shorter (only an hour in one direction).
And I'm already in front of 1.
To the left are the rocks and the impressive view. This is because here the earth seems to end.
The rocks fall vertically over 15 meters and be very careful.
Oh yes, the view is amazing!
In good weather and with good visibility of the atmosphere the panorama is just amazing.
There are several wooden benches and a table. Sit down, relax, eat, drink.
There is also a chapel "St. Stefan”. That is why in many places along the path there are additional signposts with the inscription "To the chapel".
When you are fed up with the view, you return to the starting position on the way back.
The way to the resort of return is taken in half the time.
I wish you an exceptional and impressive walk!
