Dear friends of "Photo moments", it's time to take you on a sunny walk to the charming Raikov Vir waterfall in Strandzha.
The area of Raykov Vir is located near the beautiful village of Kosti in Strandzha. And since we are in Strandzha mountain, we will also see blooming Rhododendron ponticum.
How do you get to Raikov Vir waterfall?
Our starting point is the village of Kosti - an incredibly cute village located in the middle of the wonderful valley of the Veleka River.
Already in the village, we park the cars near the beautiful church "St. St. Cyril and Methodius", located in the center of the village, and head north along "Twenty-fifth" street.
At the end of Kosti, we continue along a wide and flat road.
It is charmingly green all around, the birds sing songs in the centuries-old forests of Strandzha, the sun is shining above us and we walk with a good mood through this beautiful, south-eastern part of Bulgaria.
Let's not forget that we are moving along the periphery of the "Silkosia" reserve, which is the oldest reserve in Bulgaria. It was declared as such already in 1933.
...because of the particularly valuable and rare forest tree species, as well as because of the characteristic scrub and grass vegetation, which are of great interest from a dendrological, floristic, phytogeographical and ecological point of view...
The road often crosses a small pond, winding now on one side and then on the other.
The pink-violet colors of the blooming Rhododendron ponticum decorate the path and add a special charm to the walk.
In about 30 to 45 minutes of normal walking with breaks, you will find yourself at the waterfall, which is to the left of the road and down a small path. It's not signposted, so look around to make sure you don't miss it.
And now I wish you a pleasant walk!
See you again from Strandzha!
