As Christians, we prepare with great joy for the coming bright holiday - Christmas.
Everyone with a unique warm emotion, with a smile on their face and with a song in their heart decorates their home - decorates the evergreen Christmas tree in light, arranges lights everywhere! Squares and buildings, streets and boulevards, offices and offices are warming up!
With love and excitement, we buy or hand-make gifts for our loved ones, for our dear friends, through which we express our love and appreciation.
When we decorate the tree, decorate it with lights, carefully place the star and arrange the presents around it, do we think about the symbolism of all this. Why do we do it? Why does this bring us festive mood, sunny emotion and incomparable joy?
What do we tell our children? What do we explain to our grandchildren?
My family and I, with faith, with hope, with love, with gratitude and with trembling anticipation, prepare to celebrate the day on which our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was born, and with excitement we remember the symbols of the decoration.
The Christmas tree - the evergreen tree we decorate is a symbol of our eternal Lord, Who came from eternity, became one of us, lived on earth among us, died for us, rose again for us and ascended again into eternity, from where he daily prays before God for us and sends us his gracious gifts. Jesus Christ is the source of eternal life.
And this is eternal life, to know You, the one true God and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
The Holy Gospel of John 17:3
Truly, truly, I say to you: whoever believes in Me has eternal life.
The Holy Gospel of John 6:47
The lights symbolize Him again - the Light that came into the world so that no one who believes in Him should remain in darkness.
I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
The Holy Gospel of John 8:12
The star symbolizes again Him - Jesus - the bright morning star.
I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify this to you about the churches. I am the root and descendant of David, the bright morning star.
Revelation of John 22:16
The little angels with which we decorate streets, squares or which we place on the Christmas tree remind us of the heavenly angels who announce the good news:
Today, in the city of David, a Savior was born to you, who is Christ the Lord. Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among men in whom His favor is.
The Holy Gospel from Luke 2:14
Gifts, which are an expression of our love for our loved ones, symbolize God's eternal and infinite love for us, expressed in the most precious gift that God gave us - His Son.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The Holy Gospel of John 3:16
He who did not spare His Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not give us all together with Him?
Romans 8:32
