"Have the same spirit in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the image of God, still did not think that he should firmly hold equality with God, but renounced everything, taking upon himself the image of a servant and became like men, and being found in human form, humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross. Therefore God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every other name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of the heavenly and earthly and underground creatures, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, for glory to God the Father."
The Apostle Paul's Epistle to the Philippians 2:5-11
In what does the glorification of the Son of God consist?
The glory of the Son of God consists in His rising from the dead on the third day, in His ascension into heaven, in His sitting at the right hand of the Father, and in His coming again to judge the world.
The Son of God rose from the dead
"That is why the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life in order to take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I give it of Myself. I have the right to give it and I have the right to take it back. This order I received from My Father.”
Jesus Christ
The Holy Gospel from John 10:17-18
Christ, not seeing decay in death, with the same body with which He had suffered and with its inherent essential characteristics, but immortal and devoid of the usual infirmities characteristic of this life, and in actual union with His soul, rose from the dead on the third day by His own power and manifested Himself as the Son of God.
"By the Spirit of holiness was declared the Son of God with power through the resurrection from the dead." The Apostle Paul's Epistle to the Romans 1:4
"And on the first day of the week, early in the morning, the women came to the tomb, bearing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. And when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And when they were perplexed about this, behold, there stood before them two men in dazzling apparel. And being seized with fear, they bowed their faces to the ground, and the men said to them:
“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen. Remember what he spoke to you when he was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and on the third day rise again.'
And they remembered His words.
And when they returned from the tomb, they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest...
... And while they were talking about this, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them and said to them:
"Peace be upon you!"
And they were startled and afraid, thinking they saw a spirit.
And He said to them:
“Why are you embarrassed? And why do such thoughts arise in your hearts? Look at My hands and My feet, that it is I, the same. Feel Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see that I have".
And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. But because they still did not believe and wondered for joy, He said:
"Do you have anything here to eat?"
And they gave Him some of the roasted fish [and honey juice]. And he took and ate before them. And he said to them:
"These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all that was written about Me in the Law of Moses, in the Prophets, and in the Psalms must be fulfilled."
Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures. And he said to them:
"Thus it is written that Christ should suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnessing it.' The Holy Gospel from Luke 24:1-9, 36-48
"Knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death has no more power over Him. For the death by which He died, He died to sin once for all, and the life that He lives, He lives to God." The Epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Romans 6:9-10
In the Revelation given to the Apostle John, Jesus states:
“… I am the first and the last and the living. I was dead, and behold, I live forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and hell.” Revelation of John 1:17-18
The Son of God ascended into heaven
For forty days after His resurrection, Jesus often appeared and talked with the apostles about matters related to the kingdom of God and commanded them to preach the gospel to all nations.
And he said to them:
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." The Holy Gospel of Mark 16:15-16
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore, teach all nations, and baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the age. Amen.”
The Holy Gospel from Matthew 28:18-20
On the fortieth day after His resurrection, in human nature and as the Head of those who believe in Him, having conquered the enemies, Christ was glorified as He ascended visibly into the highest heaven, to receive gifts for men, to direct our affections thither, and to prepare a place for us, where He Himself is, and where He will remain until His second coming at the end of the world.
"And so once when they had come together, they questioned Him, saying,
"Lord, will you restore the kingdom to Israel now?"
He said to them:
"It is not for you to know years or times which the Father has put in His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be witnesses for Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth."
And when he had said this, and they were looking at him, he ascended, and a cloud received him from their sight.
And as they gazed into heaven as it ascended, behold, two men in white robes stood by them, who said to them:
“Galileans, why do you stand looking up to heaven? This Jesus, who ascended from you into heaven, so shall he come, as you have seen him go into heaven." Acts 1:6-11
The Son of God is at the right hand of God the Father and is exalted above all and above all
"So when he had spoken to them, the Lord Jesus ascended into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God." The Holy Gospel of Mark 16:19
"Who is at the right hand of God, having ascended into heaven, and unto him angels, principalities, and powers are subject." First Epistle of the Apostle Peter 3:22
As the God-man, Jesus Christ was exalted to the highest favor of God the Father with all the fullness of joy, glory and authority over all things in heaven and earth.
"God, who in various partial messages and in many ways spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets, in the end of these days speaks to us by the Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom he made the worlds, who, being the brightness of His glory and imprint of His being, and holding all things by His mighty word, having effected [by Himself] the cleansing of sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, and became as much higher than the angels as the name which is inherited, is above theirs.” Hebrews 1:1-4
"... God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every other name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of the creatures in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
The Apostle Paul's Epistle to the Philippians 2:9-11
"Therefore, having heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of the love you have shown to all the saints, I thank God for you unceasingly, and mention you in my prayers. May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation, that you may know him, and enlighten the eyes of your heart, that you may know what is the hope to which he is calling you, what is the riches between the saints of His glorious inheritance, and how exceedingly great is His power toward us who believe—a power which is according to the operation of His mighty power, with which He operated in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and made Him sit at His right hand on the heavens, far above all principality and authority and power and dominion, and every name by which they are named, not only in this world, but also in the world to come. And put all things under his feet, and made him head over all for the church, which is his body, filled with the fullness of him who fulfills all in all." The Apostle Paul's letter to the Ephesians 1:15-23
The Son of God will also be glorified at His second coming to earth
At His second coming to judge the world, Christ will be glorified in that He, unjustly accused and condemned by wicked men, will return at the last day with great power, fully manifesting His glory and the glory of His Father, with all His holy angels , with a shout and the voice of an archangel and the sound of a trumpet, to judge the world in righteousness.
The Son of God spoke of His glorious return:
"For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will render to each one according to his works." The Holy Gospel of Matthew 16:27
"For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and is seen even unto the west, so shall the coming of the Son of man be.
Where the carrion is, there the eagles will gather.
And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from heaven and the heavenly powers will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will weep when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.... But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. And as the days of Noah were, so shall the coming of the Son of man be. For just as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage until the day Noah entered the ark, and they did not feel until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Then two will be in the field: one is taken and the other is left. Two women will grind at the mill: one is taken and the other is left.
Therefore watch, for you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But know that if the householder had known at what hour the thief would come, he would have been on the watch, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore be ready also, for in an hour when you least expect it, the Son of Man is coming.
Who, then, is the faithful and discreet servant whom his master has set over his household to give them their food in due season?
Blessed is that servant whose master, when he came, found him doing so. I tell you the truth, he will set it over all his possessions. But if that servant is wicked and says in his heart, "My master is slow," and he begins to beat his servants, and to eat and drink with drunkards, the master of that servant will come in a day when he does not expect him , and in an hour when he does not know, and beating him severely, he will determine his lot with the hypocrites: there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Holy Gospel of Matthew 24:27-31, 36-51
"And when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the [holy] angels with him, then shall he sit on his glorious throne. And all the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and He will place the sheep on His right hand and the goats on the left.
Then the king will say to those on his right hand:
"Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. Because I was hungry and you fed Me, I was thirsty and you gave Me water, I was a stranger and you took Me in, I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me, I was in prison and you followed Me".
Then the righteous will answer Him:
"Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You or thirsty and give You water? And when did we see You a stranger and take You in or naked and clothe You? And when did we see You sick or in prison and follow You?".
And the King will answer them:
"I tell you the truth, because you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you did it to Me."
Then he will say to those on his left:
"Depart from Me, you cursed into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Because I was hungry and you did not feed Me, I was thirsty and you did not give Me water, I was a stranger and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not visit Me".
Then they too will say in response: "Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison and did not serve You?".
Then in answer he will say to them:
"Truly I say to you, because you did not do it to one of the least of these, neither did you do it to Me."
And these will go into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." The Holy Gospel of Matthew 25:31-46
"Great and wonderful are Your works, Lord God Almighty, righteous and true are Your ways, King of the ages. Who will not fear Your name, O Lord, and glorify it? Because only You are holy. For all the nations will come and worship before you, because your righteous decrees have been revealed.” Revelation of John 15:3-4
