My dear friends, I present to you this curious and attractive authentic Roman bridge, built over the Turia river in the village of Turia, municipality of Pavel Banya.
The locals call it "Skokat" (it means the jump in English).
How to get to the bridge in the village of Turia?
In case you are driving along the Sub-Balkan road, take the deviation for Pavel Banya.
Keep going straight until you reach the village of Turia. You will find the "Skokat" bridge right next to the road.
You can leave your car on the side of the road.
Stone stairs lead to the riverbed. The "Skokat" bridge is stone, single-arched and is distinguished by the ideal arc of the bridge arch.
Going down into the riverbed, be especially careful on the slippery and sharp stones! Below the bridge, the river forms a small waterfall, which bears the same name as the bridge.
On the peak of Sarnena Sredna Gora, closest to the village of Turia, named Golyam Vysok (with a height of 931 meters), the ruins of a Roman fortress were discovered, which the locals call "The Big Muddy". An old Roman road probably led across the bridge to this fortress.
Have a very nice walk!
